Mugamoodi (The Mask)

Mysskin, as a promising director in Kollywood, has his own style of telling stories. This time over, he has tried a different trade by moving out of the sex rackets, the abduction gangs, street fighters and all his usual stuffs. Till date, Mysskin is considered to be as an art director by who the viewers will be happy and the producers will not be. All his movies are critically acclaimed but bombarded at box offices. Nandalala was the last one to flop, miserably. And Nandalala was the only movie which Mysskin gave some pre-release promos. All his effort for Nandalala was almost in vain as it was not appreciated neither critically nor commercially.

Usual comments (a.k.a complaints) people say about Mysskin’s movies are they are too realistic, they are violent, Does these things really happen in Chennai!!? etc… May be because of this over realism, he has moved to a bit of fantacy-super human-type oriented story this time!!

Billa 2 – Roller coaster ride

Billa 2, a much awaited movie of the year 2012 hit the screens at last. I too got a chance to watch this movie, though only on the second day. As I was pretty positive about the movie after watching the teasers, I decided to watch the movie in Trivandrum itself instead of in Chennai.

Retired – Hurt

“I just now came back from Nagalapuram one day ‘Relax Trek’. One good thing is, I have decided I will never go there again. And that is the bad thing as well.

Reason is simple- I have seen Nagalapuram Forests 47 times including this. I have seen her as the most beautiful place, in every season, in every mood, in all its glory. But, private trekking parties are ruining the place like any other Indian tourist place. No matter how many ever times Chennai Trekking Club or me sweep it through out, next time when we go there, it becomes worse.

I have all those fond memories. I am happy with that.”

Oh Father, forgive them for they have sinned

I am thinking out loud how the politicians in Tamilnadu (or in any other state) spoil the normal life of people for their own material interests. See the below image; This was published in one of the leading national news caterer (a.k.a TOI-let paper), dated 16-05-2012.

The Guru Within – III

Time calls for the duty of every person to express his passion and ambitions of life. Sometimes, persons impersonate time and ask us to do that. Here my friend Arun Vaidyanathan, has asked me to elaborate on one of the stanza from “Moha mudgaram” written by Adi Shankara of Kaladi.

Neither male chauvinist nor a feminist

I saw the movie 22 Female Kottayam here at Satyam Cinemas (Seasons), Chennai last night. Despite a Sunday night, the house was full.  There are lot more and expert movie reviews already out on the net about this film. But I think it would be good to write on my own words about my experience with the movie.

Yet Another Lankan Turmoil – Loose thoughts

It was early 2010 when Channel 4 came out with an explosive documentary which unveiled the cruelties Srilankan Army were doing to the Eelam people in Srilanka. Literally, millions of people were in exile in there own land. Thousands and more were killed just for the reason that they speak a specific language. Srilankan government forgot that, they were killing those people who built that country from nothing. This is unacceptable.

Grand Indian Cricket Circus – IPL Auctions 2011 – Day 1

Show for the day one is over. A grand money drain festival that liquidized $6,85,50,000. Don’t think this is a small amount of money. When converted to Indian Rupee, it is Rs. 3,108,057,010.46 (Three Hundred and Ten Crore Eighty Lakhs Fifty Seven Thousand and Ten Rupees, Forty Six Paise Only!!)

Big surprise was given to the cricket fans, when beloved ‘Dada’ became the ‘Sorrow of Bengal’ who got no takers this time. Many expected this would happen to the great wall as well. But he got a berth in Rajasthan Royals. Further, Chris Gayle was also orphaned… I wonder.

Big shots this time are not creating any wonder as they are expected to do so! ‘Chhottu’ of India, Gautam Gambhir topped the price tags with Rs.10,88,16,000 (Near eleven crores). The young brigade followed suit the price tag hikes – Robin Uthappa, Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan. All near ten crores! Cool packages… huh (sigh).

All did well except a couple of enigma shots from Kochi team. They bought VVS Laxman and Ramesh Pawar. VVS Laxman is still a nice pick. But why Pawar, he has no good record. Somehow.. I am not a penny on this. So, it is ok for me! 🙂

Out of hundred players auctioned on the first day, 84 were picked up by some one and 16 were disappointed.

List of people who were discarded in IPL Auction 2011:

  1. Sourav Ganguly
  2. Brian Lara
  3. Chris Gayle
  4. Luke Wright
  5. Herschelle Gibbs
  6. Matt Prior
  7. Mark Boucher
  8. Jesse Ryder
  9. Graham Manou
  10. Tamim Iqbal
  11. Kapugedara
  12. Murali Karthik
  13. Ajanta Mendis
  14. Graeme Swann
  15. James Anderson
  16. Dinhara Fernando
And here is the lucky lot, along with their price tags…

I was free today… If I am free tomorrow also, I will record it here!! 🙂
